Marietta Greek Festival

Justin and I each have a friend who is Greek and it would seem their Greek-ness has unconsciously rubbed of on us! We've found that both of us have taken a interest in Greek food, words, and traditions. So of course, when we heard word that the Marietta Greek Festival was going on this past weekend, we knew we had to go! We actually were able to meet up with Justin's friend Pete, his wife Ritsa and their daughter Anastacia. It was a lot of fun! The highlight among all the fun food, traditional dancing and energy though, was the coin skirts they were selling in the marketplace. We let the girls each pick one out and soon it seemed every little girl there was sporting one! The girls asked if they could run off and dance in the amphitheater. I consented since I could see them from where Justin and I were relaxing, eating loukoumades. I snuck over for a closer look though and found that the girls had wasted no time making many new friends. I even caught a rare moment of Brynna, who is just like her mother, letting loose and uninhibited, unaware of my watchful eye. It was so fun seeing her shed the shyness and dancing freely! Opa!

Sorry I couldn't get these videos turned the right way!

Sunday Series: Family

I'm getting this up WAY late today. My internet has been down this afternoon and evening. But I just wanted to take a moment before the stroke of midnight and just say that I love my family so much. They are the greatest blessing in my life, by far. I am thankful for Justin, for the love he has for me. For the good man that he is. I'm thankful that after all these years we still love coming home to one another. He truly is my best friend. I am so thankful for our three beautiful girls. Each one of them is so unique in their personalities and I love each one of them for the different dynamics they bring to our home. Looking into their faces and receiving their hugs, kisses and "I love you's" brings my heart so much joy. I am so grateful that I get to see them grow up, learn and change. Mostly I'm grateful that as their Mom I get to be there with them through each step and watch them experience life. I am grateful for all the Young's and the McLean's. I know hands down that Justin and I have been blessed with the most insanely awesome extended family anyone could ever ask for. All these people inspire me to do better, work harder, and live life more fully. I really am one lucky, little woman.

Barter 'Do

I am as happy as a leetle girrrl!
(I'm channeling Dieter)
Why you may ask?! Because I am finally going to get my nasty ol' head of hair cut!!!! Let there be REJOICING!!! I haven't felt this dowdy in a long time. My hair really is looking pretty bad. Even in a ponytail it looks gross and sad. But let the sadness cease, because I pulled together all my gumption and asked a girl who goes to my church, who owns her own salon, if she wanted to barter with me for a haircut and she said YES!!! She is helping me get my sassy back and I'm going to take her family pictures this summer in exchange. I love it when things work out! So now I have to decide what I want! My sis-in-law Kristen is looking so, so sassy with this 'do inspiration...... what do they say about imitation being the best form of flattery, or whatever? I wonder if my hair is too thin to pull something like this off? Kristen's hair is super thick, so it looks dang cute on her! Hmmm, I wonder. Lay your hair suggestions on me! At what point on my hair timeline did you like it the best?! Or give me new 'do ideas! One request though please, no mullets!

Quote of the Day

Justin says to his three squirrelly daughters at the dinner table
"You all are a wild, wild bunch."
Maryn in all seriousness turns around and replies
"Thank You."
I think it' safe to say, Justin and I are in over our heads!

Sunday Series: My Mother

I started my Sunday Series to share things that lift me up and inspire me. There truly is no other person that does that quite like my Mom. She not only gave me life, but has worked tirelessly to make the life she has given me a wonderful one. She is a woman of love and of faith, whose example to me has been one I've always hoped I could emulate. I feel so blessed and proud to be her daughter and I know...
"All that I am or hope to be,
I owe to my angel mother."
-Abraham Lincoln

I love you Mom! Happy Mother's Day!
