What comes in a box, fits in the palm of your hand, and is Mom and Dad's new best friend? That would be our new elf, Elvis! The Ensign's came over tonight bearing gifts and our new, little buddy was one of them! He came with a book that told us about him.
We were instructed to immediately give him a name and place him on a shelf somewhere in the room. Then Elvis sits and quietly watches all day to see if the girls are being naughty or nice. The girls can talk to him and tell him wishes and secrets, but they must never touch him or he loses his magic. At night, after the whole family has gone to bed, Elvis magics himself out of our house and flies to the North Pole to give Santa the daily report on if we had good little children in our house. Then before everyone wakes up, Elvis magics himself back to our house and finds a new place to sit and watch for the day. When the kids wake up, they have to try to find his new spot! The girls kept telling each other before bed 'Listen to Mom, Elvis is watching!' I can tell already that Elvis and I will be dear friends!
We decided that maybe since Elvis is little, he is probably cousins with our leprechaun O'Malley, that visits our house on St. Patrick's day! We know one thing for certain though, we are so very happy Elvis came to our home and now will be spending Christmas with us every year!

That is so cute. We have an alarm on our house and in the family room and living room we have motion sensor thingys hanging up. Well, we told the girls that Santa is watching them through that thing. It's amazing what they tell Santa. Oh too be little again!
What a really fun idea! The Ensigns are the best....so glad that you've gotten to know some of my favorite people....I sure miss them!
I love Elf on the Shelf! Our elf's name is Sparkles. And you're right...me and that little elf are the best of friends!
Great name Elvis! Doing genealogy I learned my mom and the first Elvis were 6th cousins! Not sure what to do with that information, but there it is.
i should get one of those to watch kevin and daniel!
